KNAUS Campingpark Leipzig is located in the middle of nature and yet close to the city, between the Auensee lake, the extensive Auenwald forest and the kilometre-long course of the Neue Luppe river.
The small lake offers opportunities for pedal boat trips and the nature surrounding the campsite invites you to take long walks and cycle tours. Leipzig city centre is only 7 km away. The tram stop with direct links to the city centre is 1 km from the camping park. The pitches are spread over a meadow area with numerous shady trees. There is a barbecue area with a barbecue hut right next to the camping park. There is also a large children's playground and a practical multi-purpose sports field directly on the site.
A typical city campsite, suitable for trips to Leipzig and the surrounding area.
Direct bus and tram connection to the city center.

Negative: - We were not allowed to camp at that time. - It does not get cheaper if you park several vehicles close together and occupy fewer spots (we had 2 motorhomes, 1 caravan, and also had a cabin because we were not allowed to camp. We had to book 3 spots, but we could have easily spread out on 2, and with a bit of maneuvering, we could have fit on one). Positive: - Location - Size (both of the individual spots and the site as a whole) - Infrastructure, including the number of toilets, showers, sinks, washing machine (which we did not use), dishwasher, etc.

Unfortunately, I don’t know if the diner is part of the campsite, but I must say the prices are quite high. Other than that, everything is great.

An aging campsite. When events are held across at the Auehsus, a fee of 6€ must be paid. There is Wi-Fi, but this also requires an additional payment, which is unacceptable for such an expensive campsite. It's a scam.

Very beautiful and well laid out. We arrived late and simply set up our spot. The next morning we went to the reception to register, everything was uncomplicated and there was a very nice interaction. We will come back, it's a promise.

I was in my 6-meter campervan in January 2026 for two nights (1 person) at the Knaus Campingpark Auensee near Leipzig. Booking in late autumn 2025 had to be done 'on a wing and a prayer', as the prices for 2026 were not yet fixed. I find that at least questionable. Additionally, I was forced to book an XXL space, as only these had grass grid stones. An advance payment of 47 € was already due. On-site, an additional 46 € was added – however, 46.03 € was debited. A small amount, but symbolic of the overall picture. In the end, 93.03 € for two nights in the absolute low season, about 8 km outside Leipzig. To be honest: I find that completely exaggerated and out of proportion. Electricity was included, at least. I will definitely not be returning to this campsite.

Despite the winter season, the site and sanitary facilities are clean and well-maintained. The staff are friendly and helpful. Compared to many campgrounds in the country and especially abroad, this place is in good shape thanks to constant renovations, despite its age. Improvements can be spotted by experienced eyes upon closer inspection. As an independent business, we have been camping in numerous EU countries for over 20 years. The somewhat nonsensical negative reviews are not based on facts but are likely created by dissatisfied camping beginners and bargain hunters.
