Nice spot for Abbey and stopover

Nice place for an overnight stay and to visit the ruins of Jedburgh Abbey. The reception was friendly and the site spacious and easily accessible. As is customary in Scotland, an open area without hedges or divisions between the pitches. The entrance is somewhat inconspicuous opposite the Tweed shop among commercial enterprises via a rather questionable narrow bridge. Very clean washrooms, showers, and toilets. Overall, we felt quite comfortable. Recommendation for the evening: 'The Belter's Bar' in Jedburgh. Don’t be put off by the modest exterior. Inside awaits a typical pub with good food.

Review of Campground Jedburgh

2

Tibor Illes

August 2018

The campground is a disaster. Absolutely outrageous campground manager. When we inquired about switching to a spot with satellite reception for TV, he said he didn't care whether we wanted satellite reception or not. We were to stay at our spot. A change was out of the question. There was a spot available. We independently switched in the evening around 19:00 to test the reception. Of course, I wanted to ask first. But after 17:30 the man was no longer at the reception. Around 22:00 he then banged on the door and insisted that we immediately switch back. He became downright rude. We did not switch and left early in the morning. We gifted the already prepaid second night to this incompetent person. I didn’t want to argue with him anymore. The sanitary facilities are unacceptable. Totally outdated and filthy. The cleaning involves just rinsing the toilets and refilling as needed. Nothing gets cleaned. It's disgusting. The water from the sinks is marked "Non-potable water". Can you brush your teeth with it or not? As I said, it's disgusting. This campground should be removed from the ADAC guide. You can't send anyone there. Incompetent staff and dirty. My partner feels the same way. We were both glad when we got away from there this morning. I actually wanted to take photos of the sanitary facilities to document how dirty everything is. However, I didn't feel like it anymore this morning. We just wanted to get away as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, there is no possibility to upload photos on this review platform. That might be a sensible suggestion for improvement.
