Camping und Ferienpark Friesensee

A very beautiful, clean campsite with friendly staff. We had a pitch with a private bathroom in the second row. From the very first moment, we felt comfortable and enjoyed our stay. The burgers at the "Frieseneck" are really delicious, and the prices are reasonable. We also found the pizza to be good. Again, the staff was very friendly. Wittmund is a lovely little town. The North Sea beach is about a 20-minute drive away. What we found particularly nice is that we had visits from rabbits every evening and also at breakfast (as long as you don’t move abruptly). ;) Yes, you can hear the passing jets. But they last for not even a minute. We didn't find it disturbing and even booked our next stay on site.

First of all, there’s an aspect that is often not mentioned or downplayed. There are two military airfields nearby. Depending on the wind direction, there are takeoffs and landings as well as flyovers with and without afterburners. This happens directly above the campsite. The noise level usually hovers around 100 decibels and can even reach 150 decibels. The flights mostly occur in the mornings. However, during our booking period, there were none on Saturday and Sunday. I find these flights absolutely necessary and justified, but this should be communicated clearly as it is. The offered ear protection at the reception seems unnecessary to me. Simply covering your ears is enough. The general reviews are accurate except for the air traffic. The Frieseneck is top-notch. The boccia court resembles a crater landscape. Due to its heavy usage, more regular maintenance would be advisable.

Friendly staff. Uncomplicated arrival. Clean site. Unfortunately, not recommended for children except for the playground. Electricity costs are overpriced. We were unlucky that it was very noisy due to barking dogs.

Everything was great. We were near areas with dogs. The dogs were not friendly towards people or other dogs. There was always loud barking, which didn't seem to bother the owners. It wasn't ideal. I would book a different location next time.

The campsite is very modern. Check-in and check-out are absolutely straightforward. The sanitary facilities are very clean. The pitches for caravans and tents are in excellent condition. However, there are two downsides: 1) The road is very close to the site and generates a noticeable noise level during the day. 2) Unfortunately, there are no hedges between the pitches. Since there seems to be a lot planned, these hedges will likely be planted in the near future.

We had a spot right by the lake, with our own bathroom. We could enjoy nature from time to time. Unfortunately, there are no hedges dividing the pitches, a small convenience store is missing, and the on-site dining is overpriced and not tasty. On the side with the private bathrooms, there is no waste disposal station, no washing machines or dryers, and the trash bins are located in the middle, often far from the pitches. Other campers next to us, like those nearby, show no respect. There are only 2 washing machines and 2 dryers throughout the entire campsite. There is no special bathroom for disabled guests. The dog areas are a good idea, but in our view, they are too small/cramped. So we do not recommend it.

Very nice campsite. Everything is newly laid out and there is still some construction ongoing. There is something for everyone, it is very well-maintained and clean. Since we were relatively close to the road, you can hear the traffic, but it is manageable. Beautiful playgrounds and the fun pool next door. Dog-friendly, you can find bags everywhere and there are enough containers. Friendly staff and the prices are reasonable. The town of Wittmund is accessible by bus, bike, or on foot.

General condition of the site: Outstanding – well-maintained paths and cozy pitches with a stunning view of the lake. Cleanliness of the sanitary facilities: First-class – modern showers and washing areas, always clean and well organized. Pitch or accommodation: Generously sized, nicely located and with a wonderful atmosphere. Value for money: Excellent – plenty of nature, peace, and quality for the money. Catering on site: Friendly, fresh and with local relevance – ideal after a long day outdoors. Friendliness of the staff: Always helpful and warm. WiFi / Internet quality: Solid – easily accessible, no outages during our stay.
