Flamingo Camping

A small nice CP in a residential area, not far from the highway, with a pool, friendly reception, very dated clean sanitary facilities. The price of 40 € is too high, value for money does not match. September 2024

Here it feels a bit like coming home. A small, nice place - which is not suitable for "large vessels" - with super friendly service. Recommended for a city tour, but also for a stopover. Feeling good is guaranteed.

We were here in the preseason and the site was not quite ready for guests yet. The location is great and the reception was friendly and warm. It was still very cold .. only 1 degree in the morning. The washrooms were not heated, which made the morning shower quite refreshing. If the price had not been 35 euros, there would have been no reason to complain overall … But 35 euros in the preseason for this level of service is inappropriate …

A flat meadow with many trees and corresponding shade. TV reception can be difficult because of this. A beautiful pool is also part of the site. Unfortunately, it was not in operation during our stay. The sanitary facilities are simple, but functional and clean. The men's wash/shower room was being newly renovated during our stay. The complete water installation was renewed and everything was re-tiled. The completion happened right before our departure date. Camping Flamingo is not a luxury campsite, but it has everything you need. The best part is the proximity to Budapest and the offer to take a city tour in the campsite's own minibus. For a real friendship price, Franz, the manager of the campsite, drives you from one attraction to another. Hermina, a very experienced tour guide, explains in excellent German what there is to see at the individual stops and also provides us with many interesting background information about Budapest and its history. Hermina also answers our questions very competently and in detail. You can tell that she loves her Budapest above all else. Then we sit back in the minibus and Franz drives us to the next attraction. Often we pass through the narrowest streets in the heart of Budapest. You can tell that Franz used to be a taxi driver in this beautiful city. In short, the best that one can imagine for a city tour. The usual run-of-the-mill city tours cannot compete at all. The tour lasts about 4 hours and ends back at Camping Flamingo. Another special feature that is not mentioned anywhere is the possibility to arrange with Susanna, Franz's wife and the campsite manager, to cook for us. What is served and at what time we eat can be arranged directly with Susanna. She makes some suggestions and we choose among them what should be served. These are local rural dishes as Susanna prepares for her own family. We had not yet experienced this in any campsite in this form, but were very impressed. Summary: The perfect and very inexpensive opportunity for a city tour and the very good food by arrangement, as well as the friendly and helpful manner of the campsite operators, allow for generous overlooking of some weaknesses that exist at almost every campsite. Highly recommended!
