You can walk through the Egmondermeer polder area past fields of flowers that are in full bloom in spring. The Slop Op den Hoef castle ruins are a historical sight. Gourmets are drawn to Alkmaar, 7 kilometres away, to visit the famous cheese market. The historic Waagplein with its weighing gates is also worth a visit. The cheese museum is housed here.
