Campingplatz Sonnenstrand

We were lucky to get a spot right in the front row overlooking the Rhine (all inclusive). We spent three lovely days there with nice neighbors. One word to dog owners, when you arrive with the camper and get out with the dog, it cannot be that you let the dog do its business where others are just having breakfast. What kind of people are these? I have been traveling with the camper for 20 years, things have really changed.

We had made a reservation in advance and it was stated that we could arrive until 9 PM. Unfortunately, we were caught in traffic and tried several times to call to let them know we would be about 15 minutes late, but only got the answering machine. Upon arrival, we were told that everything was fully booked, and no one wanted to acknowledge our email that we had received, even when I showed it to them. We were then graciously allowed to stay on the side in the aisle next to the disposal area at the pitch for 12 euros a night. We find this treatment of paying guests outrageous, especially since there were plenty of spots available in the campsite, but those were of course preferred for others staying more than 4 days. If I were to do something like this, I would at least communicate it openly, no problem. But this behavior is more than cheeky.

Good location, friendly staff, close to the romantic town of Bacharach

a well-maintained site with a somewhat aging washhouse, but always clean. Disturbance from train and road due to the direct location by the Rhine is relatively low. Right on the beautiful Rhine cycle path and a two-minute walk to Bacharach with good restaurants.
