Location is great, the beach is good too. Sanitary facilities are outdated. A lovely spot for dog owners. There are no shopping options in close proximity. Bakery and butcher in the next town, inconvenient for motorhome users if they don't have a bicycle. Prices for the facilities are too high.

"Actually" a really great place, especially in terms of location and possibilities... The place has everything you need. There is also a renovated playground, which could be a bit bigger and more versatile for the size of the camping site, but the kids are having fun. The ground is covered with coarsely chopped wood pieces, which hurts the children. They often get splinters. A different surface is absolutely necessary. Unfortunately, the beautiful large trees have also been cut down, and now there is no shade for the children. According to the operator, the playground is maintained by the city of Saalburg, which is allegedly also responsible for the tree removals. The trees were healthy. I don't need to emphasize how sad that is. In recent years, there has been a central vending machine at the campsite where you can buy various things, including sausages, fresh bratwurst, and numerous other products. Nearby, but outside of the campsite, there is a great bakery with seating options inside and outside. Additionally, there is an "automated shop" where you can buy a good assortment of various goods. Even fresh fruit and vegetables, as well as drinks and many other food items. A real enrichment for the area... Otherwise, there is a really beautiful bike path to Schleiz for more extensive shopping. In the vicinity, there are many recreational activities for both big and small. Summer toboggan run, climbing park, fairy tale forest, passenger shipping, slate mine museum, cycling paths, hiking region, of course water sports, and much more. Further to the campsite: The sanitary facilities are regularly cleaned, but due to old tiles, joints, and shower curtains, there is a slight but quite unpleasant mold problem. The shower heads provide little water. It sprays in all directions. A disaster for people with long hair. Different shower heads are definitely needed inside. Unfortunately, the same ones have been there for decades. It probably won't ever change. At least the shower curtains were replaced this summer. Unfortunately, the space for emptying and cleaning the chemical toilets is located directly at the entrance of the sanitary facility and regularly has a terrible smell. A ventilation system or similar is needed. The gastro operator at the campsite seems quite sociable and talkative at first glance, but unfortunately, he repeatedly makes very unpleasant "right-wing" statements during conversations. In my opinion, that is NOT acceptable!!! I would actually like to eat and drink there, but I won’t personally give that guy any money. There is a soft ice cream vending machine with quite delicious changing flavors that the children love. The food in the restaurant/beergarden is unexciting and lacks creativity, is heavily meat-oriented, but tastes good and is affordable, as long as you can tolerate the gastro operator and his "opinion" ... 😩💩 Conclusion: A new, open-minded, and friendly gastro operator and a bit more fresh air in the shower areas would be highly desirable. For the entire site including gastro, I give 3 stars, because there is still good potential for improvement... The region and the variety of experience opportunities get 5 stars from me.

Party area, but not a campsite For those who still don’t understand, these miserable conditions are clearly part of the operator’s business model. After all, this kind of camping guests must be allowed to stay somewhere, because at proper campsites, they would be thrown out after just a few hours, just not here at the monastery. Here, they are welcomed regular guests of the site manager. Since the paths to the sanitary facilities/toilets are quite far, necessities of all kinds (!!!) are taken care of right behind or next to the caravan. The chemical toilets are also regularly emptied right by a hedge! The area for access and registration has nothing to do with a welcoming culture and resembles more of a "slum lot". The sign there saying "No smoking and drinking" is of no interest to anyone, not even the site manager or the nearby owner. Anyone who thinks that this report is exaggerated should see for themselves. This recommendation explicitly applies to the operator's staff (city administration).

With a great view of spectacular sunsets over the lake. Especially nice that you are not crammed into designated parcels here. The sanitation facilities are clean. Unfortunately, bread rolls are only available on weekends. The nearest baker/butcher and 24-hour minimarket with regional products are 1.5 km away in the village. There is a vending machine for grill items as well as a restaurant offering local dishes on site. We stayed here for a week and there were no issues at the fully booked site. We were quite amazed at how naturally everyone adhered to the quiet hours. Ideal spot for everything in and on the water, biking, or hiking with a good price/performance ratio! Anytime again 😊

Untreated simple campsite. Clean sanitary facilities. Unfortunately, there is no small shop with basic supplies (fresh rolls, etc.) on site.

Upon arrival, you can choose your spot freely, you are not forced into rectangular pitches. Of course, there's partying here too, but for those seeking absolute silence, there are many other options elsewhere. Here, one doesn't have to whisper and sneak around the site from dusk. Nevertheless, it was never too loud. The operators are very nice, and it's a family-friendly atmosphere. The sanitary facilities are top-notch. There are many recreational activities available. Additionally, you can make fire in the provided fire bowls; wood can be collected at reception. Wonderful when it gets a bit cooler in the evenings. Camping, how I enjoy it! I have been here many times and will always come back.

Overall very clean, but when you arrive you are first placed in like Tetris. For that, one star deduction. There is no privacy. We were 2 adults with 2 children and a dog.

As described by the predecessors. We still had the pleasure of the fire baskets with corresponding smoke developments, which entered the motorhome. Here, the operator should reconsider their seating arrangement.
