A Gem of a Campsite

We wanted to stay for 7 days and then extended 3 times, and it turned into 16 days. The operators are all very friendly. The pitches in the upper area are very large and separated by a hedge. All sites had water connections. There are very good marked hiking trails directly from the campsite. From easy to challenging. The viewpoints around Wachenheim are also worth a trip. There was very good free Wi-Fi. 2 km away there is a well-stocked Rewe with a baker.

We were in the upper part and it was raining where we were, the place was slightly sloped. The sanitary facilities were a bit worn but clean. Mobile reception was almost zero. We were only there for one night.

Quiet, inexpensive and an ideal starting point for bike and hiking tours.

Clean, quiet and surrounded by forest. Outside Wachenheim, but only 5 minutes by bike to the town center. Butcher, baker, and supermarket. Winegrowers and sparkling wine cellar. Saumagen and Schoppe. Great route for cycling to Neustadt, through the vineyards or villages or along the edge of the forest. Kurpfalzpark is also around the corner.

Beautiful place with weaknesses

The site is nicely located and relatively quiet. The upper half of the site is brighter and has more sun than the lower part. We had no mobile or internet reception with Telefonica/O2 on the site. Access to sanitary buildings is only with a key (there is no second one), you cannot buy bread/rolls on the site. They are only available at Rewe in Wachenheim, about 2 km downhill.

Ideal Starting Point for Hikes

September 2022

We regularly use this nearby campsite as a starting point for our annual wine tasting in the region. The plots separated by hedges provide plenty of space for caravans, awnings, and cars. The extensive hiking network that starts right at the campsite is unmatched. After the adjacent restaurant was closed by the city years ago, the administration has now also removed the glass containers and prohibited the disposal of glass bottles, right in the middle of the wine region, which is an absolute no-go.

Nice little campsite...

Very good8

located quietly directly by the forest, offers plenty of space for relaxation. Reception is staffed from 9 am to 1 pm and 3 pm to 9 pm. Very friendly and helpful groundskeeper. The campsite is divided into an upper and lower area - the lower one is slightly smaller with electrical connections, the upper one is a bit larger with water and electrical connections. Behind it is a small tent meadow! There is also a small playground for children. The sanitary building is solid and clean! However, it could slowly use a renovation. Unfortunately, there is no mobile reception here in the valley - the operator provides free Wi-Fi here. But even this reception is not very developed. Furthermore, one should have everything one needs with them, as there are no shopping opportunities at the site. But Wachenheim is just a short walk away. There you can get all kinds of Palatine specialties. Conclusion: small, nice, quiet site for a few lovely days. The atmosphere and ambiance are great.

Ideal for Hiking or Biking

The site is small and has no frills. In the upper part, there is electricity, water, and sewage at the sites. In the lower area, water and sewage must be collected/disposed of at the lower washhouse. The sanitary facilities above, as well as the toilets, are functional and clean. The site operator is super nice and has some tips ready as well. We like to just stop by for a weekend since it's just around the corner. There is a small playground for children and a small camping meadow.

We spent a beautiful weekend at this campsite. It is wonderfully small and family-oriented, and the campsite operator is very nice. From here, you can enjoy great hikes in the Palatinate Forest or visit Wachenheim or Bad Dürkheim.
