Campingplatz Gatscheck am Tollensesee

I was incredibly disappointed. Prices like at a 5-star location, condition like in 1990 or earlier... As a child, I frequently visited. 30 years later, NOTHING has changed. No Wi-Fi - it's not important to me, but it should be standard in this price segment. Showers have to be paid for extra, even though the price was already very high. The access to the site is a disaster. Kilometers of cobblestone roads with potholes, where small cars seem to vanish.

Nothing special. The access to the campsite is a disaster, 3.5 km of the worst rough cobblestones. No one goes there voluntarily. Only to be reached by MTB. Everything costs a lot. Upon arrival, there was no drinking water supply. The reception was not exactly the brightest. However, the caretaker was great.

Scenic spot, with little comfort. 3 minutes of shower for 2 € and at the same time no drinking water. However, 38.50 € for 2 people and parking space per night.

We spent one night at this campsite in mid-August 2022 on our way back home from Sweden. The only good thing about this place is the direct access to Lake Tollensesee, which is very clear and nice for swimming. Otherwise, as a holidaymaker, you feel more like a somewhat accepted source of income amid the many permanent campers. The staff are variably friendly, and as a holidaymaker, you are not allowed to do anything by yourself, neither connecting to the electricity nor emptying gray water. The toilet house is quite old, but okay; in the newer washroom, flip-flops must be worn, which, however, most interpret as arriving there directly with flip-flops that are then dirty, so it's very sandy/dirty and one cannot walk barefoot. There is no kitchen, but a few sinks outside that are only equipped with hot water. The playground is still very old. The fact that only an old, super bumpy gravel road leads there makes the place seem even less attractive.
