The location of the square is very nice, you can start beautiful hikes directly from the square. The operators are polite and helpful. The roll service is great. But the sanitary facilities are outdated, there are only shared changing areas in the shower; when the square is full it could be cleaned more often. The main problem is the floor; when many people shower, water runs through the changing area. For us, it is a criterion for exclusion.

Very quiet location, but quite worn out. The sanitary building is extremely outdated and dirty, for a fully booked weekend it needs to be cleaned at least 2 times a day. Showers do not have a flexible hose and head, washing children's hair is almost impossible. Children's playground is also very old, urgently needs to be refurbished and renovated. Playground is also in a very inconvenient spot/sloped area. Campsites are nice and large. Freshwater extraction point is very cumbersome. Outdoor pool (does not belong to the campsite) is very nice.

We discovered the campsite by chance back then, and it has now become our number 1 destination when we go camping in the Harz. The operators are very nice and helpful. The site and buildings are being modernized gradually. The sanitary facilities are super clean and are regularly maintained. The pitches are well divided and there is plenty of greenery around. I always enjoy coming back, and you are warmly welcomed. 😊

The site is run by a nice, helpful family who takes care of problems. The plots are accessible and drivable even in very bad weather. We were there over the turn of the year, and on two evenings bratwurst and mulled wine were offered by a cozy campfire. The roll service is top-notch; you pre-order the day before and just pick them up the next morning. So far, these were the best rolls we have ever had at a campsite, at typical bakery prices. The sanitary facilities are of 70s standard but clean. Unfortunately, there is only one shower with a separate changing area for men and women, otherwise it's a communal changing area. However, the measured temperature of 18 degrees was quite fresh, and with our 21-month-old son, showering was out of the question. Surrounding the site, there are beautiful hiking trails and plenty to explore.

Very nice operators. Many paths for hiking. The center of Hohegeis is easily reachable on foot, many options for eating out, the grocery store was also open on Sunday. Own Walpurgis Night celebration on the grounds with sausage, beer, and witch fire. Roll service and Wi-Fi are great. Sanitary facilities are not the newest but clean. We would love to come back.

... the phone inquiry for a parking space was answered in such a friendly manner that one was already looking forward to the space in advance... later arrival - reception no longer staffed - but all arrangements made so that one found the parking space, power connection, and access to the sanitary facilities (key) without any issues! Thanks for that.... we will come back!

A response to our email inquiry came promptly. At check-in, the digital vaccination certificates were checked - just as it should be. We only included 2 overnight stays here on our way home from a longer trip to take a look at the surrounding landscape and places. We liked the location of the site as well as the very sparse vegetation, which allows for plenty of sunshine on the pitches, even in summer. The above-average positive rating of the sanitary facilities in the style of the 60s - but without their charm - raises expectations that the facilities cannot meet for several reasons (e.g., in D/H only one shower where you can also undress, get dressed, and dry off. Surely not all campers want to present themselves naked to others - we, for example, do not. But everything is well-maintained and clean. The restaurant/cafe at the edge of the site has been out of operation for years - but there are options in the nearby town. When we visit the Harz in summer, the site will definitely be on our shortlist also because of the public swimming pool directly adjacent to it (for which it gets "badestars" from us) – but not at the very top because of the sanitary facilities.

The campsite is very quiet and idyllic, and there are great hikes directly from the site. Very nice operators, always willing to listen. And yes, the sanitary facilities are a bit dated but always clean. We would always come back. Thank you for the great stay..... Family Klopp
