Alter Bahnhof Camping

We were here a week ago for 7 days, originally intending to stay just 2 days. We liked it so much that we stayed for a week. You can directly cycle along the Sauer from the campsite and enjoy nice bike tours. We had a very nice pitch right by the river and had a very relaxing week at this clean and well-maintained site.

Simple campsite located directly on the Sauer River. Many opportunities for cycling, hiking, or sightseeing. Opposite is a fairly busy road. Sanitary facilities are basic but clean. The owners are very friendly and helpful. Dogs are very welcome, but we as non-dog owners also felt very comfortable.

The place is quite nice, located directly by the Sauer. There are parking spaces for holiday guests directly by the river and they are sufficiently large (slight slope towards the river). Very dog-friendly place. Drawback: the site does not offer a direct option for a leisurely dog walk. Morning and evening bathroom breaks are easy to manage, but that’s about it. The sanitary facilities for humans are dated but well-kept and (mostly) clean. Con here - and this is a clear warning for ALL who will overnight here - there is NO toilet paper in the restrooms!!!! Anyone who enters here without knowing this is lost. The showers are very small, there is hardly any shelf space for changing clothes or valuables, and there is also a risk that things will get wet while showering... According to our count, there are also significantly fewer sanitary facilities on site than indicated on the operator's homepage. When the site is fully booked, I wondered if this offering is sufficient. The attached restaurant has delicious and relatively inexpensive dishes on the menu, and the staff is attentive and friendly. Rolls can be ordered at the restaurant for the next morning (note, don't rely on this in the off-season).
