Very nice, quietly located RV pitch for about 35 vehicles. Top sanitary facilities, roll service, close to the center, ski lift, restaurant, cycling and hiking trails nearby. Dogs allowed.

Unfortunately, the site does have good access to the hiking and skiing area. The reception was not friendly, and we were promised that the discount card would be considered when paying on the day of departure. Then someone else - but no less unfriendly - was at the little office and said that we should have mentioned this upon arrival, and she could not enter it into the system now. Here, they probably think they can tell the stupid campers anything. Reading the other reviews, this seems to run like a common thread throughout. The poor pitches and the missing water/wastewater connections have already been mentioned multiple times. The public road that seems to run right through the area was mostly used during our stay (it felt like) almost exclusively by the speeding village youth. All in all, we believe that the site is rated with two stars more than generously.

All campers who want to book in advance here should be aware of the abusive cancellation policy of this site. If you can avoid making the booking, do so; it's simply a trap to get money from customers or, if you're lucky, from your travel insurance. Cancellations are as follows: - 30 €, regardless of when you cancel, it is a flat fee. - 50% or at least 50 €, if you cancel between 60 and 30 days in advance. - 100% on a cancellation 29 days in advance. These terms are non-negotiable and will be altered by the campsite in advance, making them a potentially abusive clause under EU Directive 31993L0013. For this reason, a pitch can be rented multiple times for the same period, which provides the campsite with good income without doing anything. Be aware that the weather in this area is very unpredictable and cancellations due to bad weather are very likely. Raise your voice if you also have this issue, otherwise, they will continue this practice.

Beautiful modern and clean sanitary facilities. Friendly staff. Location right on the Rothaarstieg. Nice for hiking. City center accessible on foot. We extended our stay for another day and were able to stay in the parking space for that.

First of all the good thing: the sanitary facility is new and very modern. We had booked an additional rental bathroom which was really great and clean. Now about the space: I was relying on the 4 stars but they are definitely not justified here! The pitch is just a better parking lot with electricity! No water at the site! And all caravans/motorhomes very close to each other! Our conclusion: we will no longer rely on the stars!

The good news in advance, the sanitary house is very good! But having only 6 toilets for men is a bit too small! And now for the negatives: the campsite is almost full of permanent campers, the tent area is a slope and therefore quite slanted, the RV parking spots are very close to each other! And the ground is just loose gravel, with only a little grass on the edges! No water at the site, only a sanitation station with 5 minutes of water for 1 euro, disposal only via a long hose since the area next to the column is also being rented. We drive a 7.45 meter long integrated motorhome and had to pay for an overlength! There is no such thing as waste baskets, garbage is disposed of outside the site. The barrier right at the entrance to the parking spaces slams shut very loudly against the opposing post, while the same type of barrier at the campsite moves into the final position silently! Apparently, there is a public road going right through the site, unfortunately, there is no speed limit there! The invoices are absolutely unclear! We seriously wonder where this site gets its stars from!!! We are not coming back, we have already departed early!

We were at CP HSK for five nights at the beginning of February 2022 and found it great there - with the exception of the mud masses at the motorhome pitch (Pitch C). Pitch C is apparently basically gravelled, but unfortunately, the gravel layer seems too thin to catch the melting snow in winter. This was inconvenient for us, as we wanted to set up a tent, since the tent would have been standing in a lake of mud. The sanitary building is unparalleled! Super! The location of the site is almost unbeatable for skiers/snowboarders, it's hardly possible to be closer to the lift. Pitch C is located rather unsightfully in the industrial area, but we did not perceive anything from the surrounding businesses; in February, you rarely sit comfortably outside (in the mud). There is no on-site gastronomy, but the town with many pubs/restaurants is only a short walk away, and a supermarket is easily reachable (Edeka for example, 500m). Right at the ski lift is a "cabin". The lady at the reception was incredibly friendly! She made a great effort to fulfill our wishes for a re-parking possibility (which worked out), and all inquiries were always answered kindly. There is free Wi-Fi in Winterberg, expectably poor during peak times. We're going back in two weeks! Points are deducted for the condition of Pitch C, but the friendliness of the receptionist, who incidentally was there for us twice outside of opening hours, makes up for this deduction!

We were dissatisfied. Aside from the sanitation facilities, which are top-notch, everything else was not satisfactory. Reasoning: 1. Unfriendly reception at the camping reception. Despite multiple requests, as we also had 2 small dogs with us and were stuck in total mud, nothing was done to give us another spot on the higher terraces. The lady at the reception offered me pallets, which we would have had to carry ourselves. The parking area for motorhomes is located in an industrial area, next to a waste transfer station and a dance palace, directly by the road. Very loud in the morning. 2. The motorhomes were parked so closely that one could hear neighbors cough. It was at best an overnight parking spot. 3. The reference to the restaurant Schneewittchen is misleading, as the restaurant is located in Winterberg, as we were told, and not on the site. 4. So we were left with the ski hut "Rauher Busch", the self-service restaurant, which, however, is only open for eating until 5 PM. By 3:30 PM, everything had already been cleared away. The price-performance ratio does not match here. Potato salad for €4.40, pieces of apple strudel with cream and sauce for €6.10, small chicken leg with broccoli and fries for €12.90, everything was lukewarm. 5. Regarding the payment process, the following should be said: When reserving by phone, the lady promised us a 10% discount for ADAC (Camping Europe). The lady (representative on Saturday) assured us that this would be noted on the invoice. The lady who worked on Sunday rejected everything. I quote literally: (.... certainly not in high season). When we asked her when the high season was, on January 23?, we received no answer!! When we inquired at other campsites in Winterberg, they said the low season starts on January 7. We felt misled. 6. The hut Saletti is nice, rated somewhat more positively, has a beautiful atmosphere, but is only open from Friday to Sunday, and the prices here are additionally 20% higher. Warsteiner Pils, 0.4 liters, for €4.50!!, reminiscent of Oktoberfest prices. 1 liter (Mass) costs around €11.50 at the Oktoberfest. We are on the Remmeswiese, but not on the Theresienwiese in Munich. Or are the prices at the Wiesen, whether Winterberg or Munich, always this high?? Then we had a key experience with the curry sausage, which we ordered with potato salad and not with fries, which was obviously a huge problem for the counter staff (the poor person was completely overwhelmed), even though the individual components were separately detailed on the bill. This means that one could choose the side dishes as desired. We recommend better training for the employees who have direct contact with guests. For us, it is incomprehensible why the rating of the site at ADAC is so high? Only because of the sanitation facilities? The rating at ADAC should refer to the overall performance! We would not go there again. Our letter to the management has not been answered to this day. Ulrike Brand

Campingpark Hochsauerland is a terraced site surrounded by lush greenery and sheltered from the wind, around 1 km from the centre of the North Rhine-Westphalian winter sports and recreation resort of Winterberg. A ski school and ski hire with modern equipment for young and old are of course available. Cross-country skiers can enjoy around 120 kilometres of groomed trails in the surrounding area. In addition to a spacious tent meadow, the Hochsauerland camping park also has 220 parcelled out pitches for caravans, all with WLAN, electricity and waste water connections, as well as a terrace for motorhomes only. The state-of-the-art sanitary building has spacious shower cubicles, child-friendly washing facilities and five rental bathrooms suitable for families.
