Escaping the Big City Noise in the Heart of Nature

In spring, we always find ourselves returning to this campsite. Nestled in a nature reserve and surrounded by water, it offers opportunities for hiking, cycling, and paddleboarding/canoeing right from the site. Or simply birdwatching. What's more, there's an unparalleled tranquility for city dwellers, with only the sounds of birds singing and the morning call of the cuckoo—fantastic. From here, you can quickly reach Amsterdam (also accessible by public transport from Almere Stad) or visit the many small villages of Flevoland. The campsite provides generously sized pitches for caravans or motorhomes, as well as clean sanitation facilities (not separated by gender). The staff are always friendly, and the atmosphere is very family-oriented. In the brasserie, you can sit comfortably and satisfy your hunger. We feel very much at home here and will gladly return.

Problems with the sanitary facilities!

For 5 days now, there has been no hot water for the showers and for washing dishes in the southern sanitary building... Hot water is essential at the campsite. The problem is known, has been complained about many times, but apparently is not being addressed with priority! The second sanitary building is far away and, of course, overcrowded and correspondingly dirty. A real big downside. There are indeed more dedicated campsites. The bread service, which is otherwise good, only starts at 9 AM, which is a bit late if you want to do something early.

Nice campsite in a fascinating, modern city
Very good8

We spent four nights there in June 2022. The site was originally located on the grounds where the Floriade 2022 was held in the meantime. Since then, it has been located at the new site in the northern part of the city in a natural setting. The staff welcomed us nicely and were helpful. The pitches are of a good size (about 100 sqm) and are arranged in a circular shape on a peninsula in a lake. Electricity and water are located directly at the pitch. The terrain is flat and partly divided by hedges (mainly gravel paths and meadow areas). There are sunny places and shaded spots by tall trees. Additionally, there are small cabins and safari lodges for glamping stays. In one area of the campsite, there is a small enclosure with chickens and goats. The catering options were somewhat limited on the site, but sufficient for a small hunger. For variety, one should have at least a bicycle with them (bike rental on site), as the nearest restaurants are a bit further away. The nearest supermarket (Albert Heijn) is about 2 km away. There are two washhouses, which are adequately equipped (unisex). The cleanliness of the sanitary facilities could be improved in detail, but it was still okay. The site is well suited for visiting the city of Almere and cycling tours to the neighboring nature reserve. There is also enough offered for water sports enthusiasts and boaters. From Almere, you can wonderfully take the train to Amsterdam and explore the metropolis. Overall, a nice, manageable, and friendly site.
