Camping Thüringer Wald

The campsite is located in the middle of the forest and offers a very quiet atmosphere. The hosts are extremely nice and helpful. Breads are available on pre-order, and there is a small selection of necessary items you may have forgotten. I was allowed to choose my pitch, but there was no water directly at the spot, only nearby. The sanitary facilities are located in a building and were always clean, although the site was rather sparsely occupied during my stay. There is also a chemical toilet as well as a washing machine and dryer. The disposal of the camping toilet and gray water is possible, but urgently needs modernization. If you need to shop, plan for about 20 km for the one-way trip, as the bistro was closed during my stay. Overall, I recommend the site only with reservations.

We had a great week at the campsite with bread service. It was quite peaceful during Ascension, especially since it got cold again. Showers and toilets are clean. Unfortunately, like in many places, there is no staff, and therefore no gastronomy at the moment.

We chose the campsite on the internet to find peace and relaxation. For our stressed nerves, that was the best decision. We rented a permanent camping spot, which is very spacious and has a great view. In spring, it bloomed beautifully here. We take many walks in the adjacent forest with our dog. Our stress level has decreased and it's only June. Everything that a camper's heart desires is available here: clean sanitation facilities, a nice operating couple, a bread roll service, a small shop, a restaurant (which is open), a bus shuttle on demand for cyclists to bring them to the bike paths, a children's playground, etc.

The site is located at the A... of the world and there is really nothing there. Operators are very nice. Space for about 500 campers, but very little going on. Showers, etc. all fine and clean, unfortunately with shower tokens. Electricity extra and expensive. Bread roll service and small shop – that’s okay. No newspapers… Restaurant closed. (Grr) NO EC payments, only cash!!! No ATM within an estimated 50 km… Waste disposal is okay – grey water disposal is difficult (with buckets) black water disposal: outdated and disgusting. Freshwater: Filling only allowed with watering can!!!!!! Who arrives before 2:00 PM and after 11:00 AM must pay an additional 10€ each! For us: Never again!

The site gave a very unkempt impression. The individual terraces were not mowed, the nettles were partly knee-high, even though it was supposed to be peak season according to statements. We had chosen the site for an overnight stay, as according to the 2017 camping guide, a fixed price of 17 euros should apply during this period with the ADAC camping card. Unfortunately, this was rejected as no longer valid. The overall service was not bad and unfriendly.

Great place with plenty of space for everyone who is there. Very nice operators, it couldn't be better!!!

In July, there were about 20-30 guests here. There would be space for about 500. Those who want to enjoy the tranquility of the Thuringian Forest are exactly right here. However, there is only a hike of about 1.5 km length leading steeply downhill to the reservoir. After swimming, one must go back up again. The operators are very nice and accommodating. Dogs are welcome. There is a mini-market and a snack bar on-site. The sanitary facilities are clean.
