We were here for 13 days, beautiful location with direct access via a pier to the lake. The pitches are large enough for standard caravans and motorhomes. Unfortunately, the operator also allows large motorhomes (buses) on the site. For the neighbors, it feels like camping among high-rises. Otherwise, it's a nice quiet place with friendly staff. Food at the restaurant is good and reasonably priced. Sanitary facilities are always clean. You can go hiking and cycling directly from the site. We enjoyed our time here.

First of all, I want to say that the St. Josef campsite at Lake Kaltern has a dream location and an incredible panorama. The washroom is quite decent and clean. Unfortunately, that is all the positive points. The pitches are small and very unkempt, they presumably are not mowed at all here. Since the cars also have to be on the pitches, it is as cramped as a truck stop during a rush. The electricity is automatically switched off at more than 1300 W and is only available again after 10 minutes for educational reasons (employee's statement). The trash is not picked up every day and stinks near the restaurant terrace. There is no way to get cash. The "private dock" right by the lake is far too small for the number of guests and does not have a single seat for elderly people. The Wi-Fi is a real catastrophe.

A small campsite, without much fuss. The premium pitches at the front by the boat belt are about 80 m² in size, and the lake can be accessed after about 50 m via a swimming platform. Hiking and biking trails begin in front of the site, dogs are allowed, and there are plenty of opportunities nearby for a walk. The small shop has what is needed in everyday life, and the restaurant is really good and inexpensive. We found it overall much more pleasant and quieter than the big competition called Gretl, where there is simply too much going on and dogs are not allowed.

We have been on the site for decades, repeatedly - outside of the main season. We considered ourselves regular guests with longer stays, in contrast to most passersby with just one night. The weather was so bad and showed no signs of improvement. Of the 10 days, we left 3 days early - the site was at most 1/4 occupied - we had to pay for the full 3 days. A bad deal - otherwise, we come at least 20 days a year - not anymore.

We were just passing through and stayed for one night. We got a nice pitch. Great lake access via a dock. Nice restaurant. Super clean sanitary facilities. We will definitely come back and stay longer.

Arrival 20.6.2022 2 people with a large dog with a motorhome wanted to stay until 25.6. but stayed only 1 night could not turn on the air conditioning at 38 degrees not even the coffee machine as the power went out after a minute reported this to the young manager who showed little interest and said it works for the others (previously at the campsite in Merano had no problems with power outages) on the contrary with the polite request for a goodwill solution due to early departure since we had no power and it was not our fault he read me the cancellation conditions charged for one day and kept the 100 euro deposit and said that he does not need such people who are not satisfied at his site (ban from the site) the way he treated me was not customer-friendly, therefore no recommendation. We then continued to Lake Keutschach and here we had immediate power without interruption so it was not due to our motorhome.

A small campsite, without much fuss. Quickly accessible to the lake for people in wheelchairs. Those who enjoy paddling on their SUP and just want to ride bikes will have a good time here. A small convenience store that has everything you need. A successful holiday all around with the locals.

If you need a pool or similar, you are in the wrong place. The place is clean and without much frills. You can reach the lake via a path and a pier directly through a wide reed belt, close to nature indeed. The sanitary facilities are tidy and clean. Behind the building, there is a small playground for the kids. I really liked it here; I also don't need a huge parking space for my van. If I am in this area again, I will definitely stay here again.
