Camping Sonnenberg

Last Saturday, I was shamelessly kicked out of the campground by the owner because I did not immediately go to the reception after parking the camper, but instead took a walk with my dogs to the back entrance to head to the reception from there. Although I had booked, I was thus not considered a customer of the site, but rather a visitor from somewhere who needed to be put in their place, being warmly addressed in a condescending manner (which is not customary in Germany!) and even being pleased that they went back home.

Simple, nice site without a lot of frills. The two operators make every effort to ensure that you feel comfortable and welcome. The sanitary facilities meet basic needs without claiming to provide luxury. The site is clean and well-maintained, located away from the village right at the edge of the forest. The food in the small dining area tastes good. The small playground is also fine, but there is little variety for children otherwise. No direct bathing opportunity at the site, but possibilities for extensive hiking and cycling tours.

Those seeking peace to unwind and nature are in the right place. All places are generously laid out and you are one with nature. If you want to explore the Lüneburg Heath with its spacious cycling and hiking trails, you are in the right place. Cycling and hiking guides are handed out upon arrival. The campsite has been lovingly designed by the two owners, you immediately feel like friends! Everything you need is available, Lidl and Aldi can be found in the neighboring town of Fassberg, about 4 km away, reached quickly by bike - there's a bike path everywhere. With the appropriate water level, the Örtze can be powdered, canoe rentals are available in Müden or Fassberg. The owners personally bring rolls to the site in the morning, something we have never experienced before. Really great campsite, great owners, great Lüneburg Heath, simply a hidden gem!! Thanks to both of them!!
