Camping Reine Mathilde

A very beautiful and well-marked area with a very friendly lady at the reception. However, that’s where the positives end. The sanitary facilities probably date back to the last millennium; everything is very cramped, especially the showers, and everything feels outdated and not up to modern standards. The women's restroom is right next to the dishwashing sinks, and there is no Wi-Fi on the site. After a few days, we decided to move our spot, especially after a very old machine started trimming the hedges right next to our pitch during breakfast, even though the site was only sparsely occupied and they could have started trimming in other areas first. I spoke to the worker about it, and his response was: "I'm working here"... so there was no understanding. I have never experienced anything like this in over 30 years of camping in France....

Very spacious pitches, a nice base for visiting the D-Day beaches, but the sanitary facilities were really below par. They were old, often dirty, and smelled of mold and sewage. Washing dishes in the same area as the ladies' toilets was inconvenient. The sinks were at a very low level, and there wasn’t always hot water available. Additionally, there was a lot of French entertainment at the campsite until late in the evening (ending around 00:00), which you have to like; it wasn’t our thing. We were also next to a French family who were loud deep into the night. That didn't help our vacation experience.

Pros

The spots are great. Location/Rental accommodations: The two spots we had were really nice. The ability to have a charcoal barbecue (rental available) is excellent.

The tranquility, huge pitches, very friendly staff, nice pool. Pitch / rental accommodation: Very large, hedge-protected pitch, providing a lot of privacy.

Pros

A small, quiet campsite where everyone has their own respectable space. The pool is truly enjoyable. The children's evening right upon our arrival was a big hit with my little girl. We were very comfortable in our pod, which spared me, at my age, from having to set up my tent. The location/accommodation met all of my expectations and needs.

Cons

The sanitary block located behind our pod is likely temporary, but it served me well.

Pros

The calmness of the campsite and among campers is a plus. There are shaded areas. The camping spots are well-defined from neighbors. The pool is nice. The region is still beautiful. Site / Rental accommodation: Very good, generally clean. The bedding is fine. Duvets and pillows are clean.

Cons

Maintenance of the sanitary facilities/showers needs to be done several times a day considering the number of guests! These common areas should also be renovated.
