We cannot understand the good reviews. We were very close to an unkempt area with a very long path to the washroom. At night, there was no lighting at all by us. There were 2 toilets nearby in terrible condition. The reception is only briefly occupied, otherwise one has to clear their questions via an intercom. The gentlemen at the reception seem very unmotivated. No phone, internet or TV reception. We were completely cut off. The announced hiking advice was then just a reference to the hiking map. Even for hot water at the sink, one had to pay. Sanitary facilities were outdated compared to the website, the showers flood the entire washing area. We would recommend staying in Königstein and taking public transport to the very beautiful valley. We did not feel comfortable at all.

Nature-friendly site with access to the city
Very good8

Wonderfully located site right in the Kirnitzschtal, only about 3 km from Bad Schandau. Bus stop and Kirnitzschtalbahn stop directly at the site. Bad Schandau is also easily accessible by bike. The site is terraced with differently sized, not strictly demarcated plots. Sanitary facilities are sufficiently large and very clean, despite almost fully booked spaces and rain. Accessible bathroom available and sufficiently large. Unfortunately, it can only be reached over a curb that is not lowered enough, which will certainly pose challenges for most people with mobility impairments without assistance. Additionally, the washroom is located in the upper area of the site, and from each pitch, there is a more or less steep/long incline to manage. This is hardly possible alone in a wheelchair. Wi-Fi or mobile reception is hardly available or very poor. This is not a problem in itself, but it should be noted. All in all, still a recommendable site!

Good location, but . . .

All in all, a good place for hikers, very positive the kiosk with a large selection, very friendly seller. The sanitation building is okay, unfortunately almost constantly standing water in the shower areas due to unevenness. The connection to public transport is actually good, but due to poor mobile phone service and almost unusable Wi-Fi, planning trips can hardly take place. Conclusion: An ideal location for hikes in the core area of the Saxon Switzerland.

When I arrived, my thoughts were initially negative since I was standing right by the street. But despite that, it was completely quiet, the tram passes by from time to time, which personally didn't bother me. The river was right next to my spot, and the sound was great. Very good bus and tram connections. The restroom facilities were clean and excellent.

We had no reception on the premises, but we personally found that very nice. The sanitary facilities were top-notch and the place is a perfect starting point for hikes. The only downside: the reception hours are very limited.

Beautiful, dog-friendly parking space

The very nice groundskeeper gave us very good hiking tips for dogs and their owners. Rolls could be ordered from him. The sanitary facilities were regularly cleaned, which was very pleasant given the fully booked site with about 50 motorhomes.

The promised Wi-Fi exists but without internet access. There are also many hidden costs that are not mentioned on the website. However, there is a kiosk with a bakery and fresh rolls in the morning. Overall fine, hygiene is good.

More info about Camping Ostrauer Mühle
Situated not far from Saxony's most famous spa town Bad Schandau, Camping Ostrauer Mühle borders on the Saxon and Bohemian Switzerland nature parks, which are ideal hiking areas. The modern campsite is therefore an ideal starting point for a relaxing and active holiday close to nature.
3-star campsite in the picturesque Elbe Sandstone Mountains
There are 100 pitches available for holidaymakers on the 2.5-hectare site, some of which are parcelled out. The pitches are between 60-100 square metres in size and are separated by hedges and trees, so you can always enjoy a high degree of privacy. Modern sanitary facilities as well as water and electricity connections are just as much a part of the facilities as washing facilities and Wi-Fi on parts of the pitch. While there is a playground for younger guests, the countless nature excursion destinations in the region are popular with all age groups. The 115-kilometre-long, nationally renowned Malerweg trail, which also runs past the campsite, stretches along unspoilt landscapes. The neighbouring Saxon Switzerland National Park is also a true hiker's paradise. The reception staff will be happy to advise guests on the wide selection of routes. One of the most popular day trips is a ride on the Kirnitzschtal railway to the impressive Lichtenhain waterfall. The Elbe cycle path can also be reached quickly from the campsite, making an extensive cycle tour a popular activity. Whatever the weather, we recommend a visit to the Toscana Therme in Bad Schandau, just 4 kilometres away. The cosy, warm thermal pools and sauna area are the perfect place to relax.
