Camping Okertalsperre

We wanted to spend a weekend in the Harz and found a spot that was only available from Friday to Sunday. However, this spot could not be booked, as the minimum stay is 3 nights. Even after emailing and calling, I was informed by the owner that the program does not allow bookings and the spot would simply remain empty for the weekend. I was to accept the no or buy the spot and make my own rules. I will not do that and as long as no one else buys the spot, I will certainly avoid it, so I accept the no and know that elsewhere, there are other services available.

Very friendly operators. Nice pitches, mostly surrounded by higher hedges and trees. The sanitary facilities are very clean and tidy. There is a small shop with a limited selection. However, there is a grocery store and 2 butcher shops in Altenau. Only the road above the campsite is occasionally audible. But that didn’t bother us. We would love to come back when everything is green and nature has fully unfolded.

We were here over Easter for 6 days. We like the campsite because of its beautiful, separated pitches. Those who reserve in advance can access their pitch outside of reception hours using their license plate. Wi-Fi was good for us, free and unrestricted. The offerings for children are certainly limited at this time of year, but in summer there is a great playground and swimming opportunities in the lake. We were here without children and could enjoy nice hiking and cycling. The washrooms are very clean, which is important to us. We will definitely come back.

Great campsite. Beautifully located by the water, great cooling on hot days. Sometimes a few motorcycles can be heard during the day, but it's very quiet at night. Sanitary facilities are sufficiently available and clean. The operators are very nice.

In a half-empty CP, the owners require a stay of at least 2 nights. Keeping lockers open is probably too much effort.

Camping Okertalsperre was for the first time our holiday destination for 3 weeks. The site is directly by the dam and offers a wonderful view. The sanitary facilities are modern and always in very clean condition. A special mention goes to the very friendly operators, who were always there to offer advice and assistance, even taking time for a little chat, contributing to a family atmosphere. Anyone who loves a quiet holiday in a great environment and their own activities will feel perfectly at home here. We will come back.

We have already been here twice. It is always a pleasure for us to come back! The people are friendly and helpful! The pitches are large enough that usually the car can stand on the pitch as well. Sanitary facilities are always top clean and well maintained. We will definitely be happy to come back!

It's a pity the site could score better if everything wasn't set so frugally. Little water when showering, Wi-Fi only available for a maximum of 30 minutes, night lighting hardly useful, electricity price per kWh at 0.70 euros is quite overpriced and outrageous.
