About

Papillon Rochefort is located on the sunny southern side of a densely wooded hill on the edge of the Ardennes. Many of the large pitches in Ave-et-Auffe are bordered by hedges and bushes. On the well-kept site, a 1-hectare forest invites you to relax and go for a walk and in summer the outdoor pool invites you to splash around. In addition to the heated, 18 metre-long pool, there is also a children's pool. Active guests like to meet on the sports field, where volleyball tournaments are organised regularly. There are also football goals and table tennis tables. The youngest holidaymakers can have fun in the two playgrounds. There are 30 marked hiking trails around Ave-et-Auffe with a length of between 3 and 12 kilometres.

Review verifications

No verification has been conducted to determine whether a review comes from consumers who have actually used or purchased the service, unless it is marked with the "Check" symbol.

Customer reviews marked with a "Check" come from our partners Ctouvert or iiQ-Check. These partners conduct personal review surveys after the stay to ensure that the reviews are from consumers who have booked the services they are reviewing themselves.

Reviews via PiNCAMP are only possible with a confirmed email address. After publication, our content team checks the content of each review to ensure it complies with our terms of use; however, we do not match reviews with bookings made through us.

What campers are saying

Summarized by AI

The campsite scores with its wonderfully quiet forest location and a wonderfully relaxed, family atmosphere. The spacious pitches, which offer plenty of privacy, are really well received. The friendly team also instantly puts you in a holiday mood. Good to know for the trip: Anyone heading here should be prepared for slightly older sanitary facilities, where there can sometimes be waiting times during peak hours.

It is clear that more is being invested in the expensive (rental/purchase) cottages. I wouldn't be surprised if the campsite is halved next year. The swimming pool is outdated, the sanitary facilities are old, the camping pitches are crooked, and at the bottom of the large field, there is a terrible smell of sewage – particularly disgusting is the fact that there is a sewage pump that suggests the drainage from the sanitary building comes out here. That's certainly how it smells. On the first day, the sanitary facilities were dirty; luckily, a good cleaning crew came in on the second day to make it clean. The reception at the front desk by the ladies was absolutely top-notch. Super clear, friendly, and helpful. A plus point is that from the back, you can easily access the forest. The view from the large field is also very beautiful. At the swimming pool, there was often a generator humming nearby, not sure why, maybe not enough electricity? The women’s showers in the cabin were barely sufficient, with no pressure.

Pros

Nice is a big word. The view from the pitch over the fields was indeed beautiful.

Cons

The website needs updating; there is a pool, but it is in a state of disrepair and no longer in use. The campsite shop was also not operational. The reception hours were poor, especially during a very busy Pentecost weekend.

Restaurant options are quite limited Location/Rental Accommodation: Needs refreshing, especially the bathroom (floor tile joints). A sofa for two would have been appropriate.

Pros

Friendly welcome Beautiful location. Pitch/Accommodation: Spacious sites

Cons

The option to order drinks and breakfast is missing during the week. This is available on weekends and during holiday months. Pitch/Accommodation: There ought to be one or two additional power points along the side of the sanitary block. Currently, we had to take power from across the road.

Pros

The forest Standplaats/Huuraccommodatie: Grass

Cons

Kids are riding around on squads like crazy. Even after being asked to refrain from crossing the playground, they continued with e-scooters and squads. Everything points towards your swimming pool. All emails feature a large picture of your swimming pool. It's huge!!! However, it is mentioned in very small print and is barely findable on your website that it is only open in July and August. Remove the swimming pool pictures! Standplaats/Huuraccommodatie: The ground is very uneven! The best spots are reserved for the expensive wooden houses.

Pros

Thanks to the weather, we had wonderful days. The caravan was clean and, as always, fully equipped. It's a shame that under the new owners, campfires are no longer allowed. The new catering setup looks inviting, and the pizza was delicious! The performance on Saturday was loud, but the musical duo was good and therefore not disturbing in the background. It was nice to still see the familiar face of Valerie at the reception! Pitch/Accommodation: The beds are a bit cramped, but otherwise comfortable, clean, and fully equipped.

Cons

Pitch/Accommodation: The taps/showerhead and the kettle could use a descaling. Partially resolved by ourselves.

Pitch

Pros

A truly wonderful campsite in the heart of nature, close to the Lesse for refreshing. Nice new manager, pleasant bar area. Pitch/Rental Accommodation: Large pitch with electric and water connections nearby, options in shade or sun.

Cons

Few sanitary facilities for the number of campers, pool not open. Stay for one weekend at the end of May, so it wasn't bothersome. The new managers told us that everything will be changed in the coming months.

Lovely stay at a wooded campsite. Verified

Pitch

Pros

A very cozy and large campsite, as tents can be pitched everywhere in the woods, and there are very spacious pitches for caravans (just keep in mind that it’s not flat, it’s quite hilly). The sanitary facilities are great and clean! The bread delivery service is also very convenient. Plus, in the evenings, you can enjoy a drink at the bar, cozy under a large tent. Pitch/Rental accommodation: We stayed in our own caravan with our little dog.

Cons

The campground is showing some signs of aging, but they are actively working on it, so it’s not a problem. It's just unfortunate that the pool is empty...
