Camping Las Hortensias

Located just 100 metres from the bay, Camping Las Hortensias in the northern Spanish region of Asturias is particularly suitable for families with children. At low tide, the water of Playa de la Franca runs from the white sandy beach a good 270 metres out of the bay into the open ocean - guaranteeing carefree bathing fun even for the youngest guests.

Good facilities and a marvellous location are the trump cards

Both rugged cliffs and flat sandy beaches are within easy walking distance of the campsite and are ideal for long walks with the dog and for cheerful bathing fun. The surrounding area along the coast is characterised by lush landscapes and villages such as La Franca, Buelna and Colombres blend harmoniously into the idyllic natural scenery. Some of the small settlements in the area are still characterised by their traditional stone construction. Stone churches, village walls and houses make for picturesque photo motifs and reflect the character of the local landscape. Camping Las Hortensias has 202 pitches for motorhomes and tents on just under three hectares. Neatly parcelled out on terraces, the pitches are surrounded by natural woodland and accessed by tarmac paths that are illuminated at night. Modern, bright sanitary facilities with hot and cold water connections, washbasins for crockery and laundry and ironing facilities allow self-catering on site. A restaurant, a supermarket and a tennis court provide further amenities. The relatively secluded location near two bays allows for relaxing days in peaceful, naturally wild surroundings. There is a hotel in the immediate vicinity as well as places to stop for refreshments against a fantastic beach backdrop. Overall, the campsite is a haven of peace and relaxation, especially at night. Camping Las Hortensias is also an excellent choice as a starting point for exploring the exciting natural landscape.

A symbiosis of steep rock formations, deep blue sea and lush forests

The two bays Playa de la Franca and Playa del Oso are only a few hundred metres from the campsite, but both are beautiful in their own way. The former is characterised by a phenomenal sandy beach between two densely vegetated headlands. Good access to restaurants and the road make it very popular with holidaymakers. However, a short walk around one of the massive rocks takes visitors to Playa del Oso. The small, hidden bay rewards visitors with rugged cliffs in the water and cave-like openings. Further afield, the Picos de Europa mountains, good fishing rivers with trout and salmon and the prehistoric Tito Bustillo caves with their ancient wall paintings are waiting to be discovered.
