Camping Lagoa de Santo André

Very nicely located site, although a bit dated, but the price-performance ratio is right. Very friendly staff, and even though the mini-market is closed at this time of year, there were rolls and delicious espresso in the small restaurant. Access to the lagoon is unfortunately not possible directly, but the long sandy beach is not far away.

The campsite is very simply equipped, i.e. freely selectable pitches; the minimarket and the restaurant offer basic supplies; there is no access to the lake, i.e. you need 10-15 minutes to get to the dunes. From there, you can access the lake and a really great beach including a beach bar. The sanitary facilities are in need of renovation, but everything works. The price/performance ratio is rather positive at 12 EUR in the off-season; otherwise, 80% of the campers are permanent Portuguese.

The staff is very friendly and helpful. The facilities were clean, but bring your own toilet paper. They offer free electricity up to 2 amps which is just enough to keep your refrigerator and water pump running. If you use a hair dryer or coffee maker the fuse box will blow. You can buy more electricity if needed. I enjoyed my weekend with my dogs there and met also other friendly campers.

Basically, the site is a fenced-in pine forest on the edge of a nature reserve. The pitches are not really designated, you can choose your spot more or less freely. The ground is sandy and covered with pine needles, making camping rather uncomfortable. However, shady spots can be found. There is a small kiosk at the entrance. Washing and sanitary facilities are available. Positive: The location of the site with direct access to the lagoon. The very beautiful beach is about a 15-minute walk away. Negative: The sanitary facilities and hygienic conditions. Overnight stay for two people, tent, and car €17.
