Camping La Focetta Sicula

Beware of fraud: I booked a "Piazzole camper superior beach/fronte mare" pitch in April and paid 74€ for 2 nights immediately. Upon arrival in October, I was told that VW buses never park in front because they need the space for the large motorhomes. She also claimed not to have received any payment. When I checked my account on my phone, she suddenly found the transfer.

Directly by the sea, slightly elevated with a great view. Ideal for trips to Taormina! Unfortunately, the pitches in the front row are on concrete. We didn't need our awning due to the weather; pegs can't be used there. Still, a breathtaking view. The sanitary facilities are very (!!!) old, but always clean. Unfortunately, at check-in, due to the language barrier (people spoke only Italian), we received no information, including that you have to buy shower tokens for 1 euro each. And very annoyingly: Upon departure, we were not informed that we hadn't picked up our passports at the reception yet. We had to drive back from the next campsite. Shopping options are perfect; there is a large supermarket just around the corner.

Quiet, suitable for visiting Taormina. Relatively expensive; poor Wi-Fi.

Fairly clean and tidy site right on the beach, but it is very short (one side has boulders and on the other, a river flows into the sea) and does not allow for beach walks. Electricity ONLY 4 KW per night included. In February, this is a bit low. A glass bottle service is offered.

Very friendly and helpful reception. At the end of April 2024, there is no supply at the site, but the nearest bakery is about 500m away, the next restaurant is about 700m away. The direct beach access was also occasionally closed during the day, but this was not a problem due to the cool wind. In April 2024, spacious pitches, old, simple, but clean and functioning sanitary facilities; hot showers with - despite contrary indications in the ACSI CampingCard guide - paid shower tokens.

A very nice place right by the sea with super beautiful pitches overlooking the sea. Sanitary facilities always clean, a bit older but not a problem. Service at the reception is just top! We are here for the second time on the tour around Sicily. Dogs are very welcome and can also go perfectly into the water.

The operator is unfriendliness personified. After I checked in and was assigned my spot, she came to me in the evening and said I shouldn't spread out so much and should keep my things more together. I was first surprised and then really angry. Everything had been arranged, and then her big boss came and thought she needed to give me instructions again and impose restrictions. Trailers cannot be taken to the spot and must remain outside. Where you are supposed to walk your dog is also stated in a very commanding manner. The spot is not bad, but the boss is a disaster. Unfortunately for me, it's the first and also the last time!

The response from the campsite is hard to beat in terms of rudeness. I will never come back! The campsite is located by the sea with a gravel beach. The campsite is very expensive. €29 for one person with a tent. No internet, no electricity. When asked why the campsite is so expensive, the answer was that I disturbed them during their lunch break and that it is peak season!
