Camping Karolina

We were at the campsite in mid-July 2022. The rating is mostly correct, but we have to mention a few points: Campsite/Ground: Very easy to choose, very uncomplicated formalities. Reception is the same as the pub/tavern. Friendly owners! The grounds are great, with many trees and bushes. There are no obstacles/trees/bushes at the corners/bends - good for caravan drivers! Sufficient sockets (Schuko with an extra grounding pin, not a single CEE), access road = dirt road, many potholes. Leisure: There is a swimming pool (inflatable) on the site, and a playground for children. A bike path runs next to the campsite. Food/Shopping: Tavern/pub at the site, always well attended, even by external people (mostly cyclists). There is no shop or bakery. Sanitary: Basically everything is available (toilets/showers/individual wash cabins/...) but: the years have clearly taken their toll on the facilities, extra doors have been crafted out of plywood. Unfortunately, none of the individual ones can be locked, and there are no storage options in the showers themselves (only outside in the walking area). The cleanliness of the toilets (especially men's) leaves much to be desired, but that is mainly due to the male clientele! Some not-so-small spider webs can be found quickly. The urinals are located outside in a wooden shed.

The place itself is beautiful and well-kept. There are apparently rental accommodations. The pool was unusable in May 2022 and full of dirty stagnant water, the sanitary facilities are old but still usable, could be a bit cleaner. Adapter plugs for Czech system - European system available at the reception. The access road is in miserable condition and can only be driven on very slowly.

We can absolutely recommend Camping Karolina, especially in the off-season. The campsite is located in a secluded, very beautiful quiet valley, directly by a small river. The camping staff is very friendly and uncomplicated. The campsite operator speaks German and very good Italian. The campsite is geographically well situated for various activities. Only 30 minutes from the German border. Mariánské Lázně 30 min, Plzeň 50 min, Karlovy Vary 1 hour, and the Bohemian Forest Nature Park 1 hour. We always like to come back.

The groundskeeper is very friendly and also speaks German. Some of the staff cannot speak either German or English. A tidy place, clean and orderly sanitation. The road to the grounds is quite narrow; in case of oncoming traffic, one must pull to the side.
