The operators are extremely friendly. There is a large area for long-term campers, but this does not disturb at all and invites to take walks. The sanitary facilities are ultra-modern, spacious, and clean. The dishwashing facilities are perfect. For hot water while showering, you pay 1 Fr. for three minutes. The pitches are simple, dispersed over grass. Nothing special, yet cozy and sufficient. The place is ideal for excursions to Appenzell, Urnäsch, etc. The train station is just a 5-minute walk away. The Kronberg cable car and the zipline park are in close proximity. Perfect for walks and jogging routes. Just start running. The small shop offers everything you need, many local products, various beers, meat, and cheese. There is a large playground for children.

Great starting point for hikes and mountain bike tours in the Appenzellerland and Alpstein. River for the kids or to cool off, and a barbecue spot nearby. Camping Jakobsbad is very well located, with a beautiful view of the Kronenberg. It is well connected by public transport, the train station is 5 minutes away, with easy connections to various postal buses. Very friendly reception, modern and immaculate sanitary facilities, it is an ideal place to discover the region. We will definitely return.

Camping site Jakobsbad in Jakobsbad has been our favorite campsite in Appenzellerland, N.E. Switzerland for many years. The campsite is located a few minutes' walk from the village of Gonten and the Kronberg cable car. The campsite has a quiet location and very nice views. Spacious pitches, shop, excellent and clean sanitary facilities, very customer-friendly service, and affordable prices. Perfect location, centrally located to many beautiful hikes in the immediate surroundings (possibly with the numerous cable cars like at Kronberg, Santis, Ebenalp, and Hohe Kasten). Beautiful places like Appenzell, Urnäsch, and St. Gallen are easily reachable by car or the local train.
