Camping Höllensteinsee

A beautiful campsite directly by the Black Regen or Höllensteinsee. Very quiet, everything is top clean and modern. I will definitely go there again.

We were at the Höllensteinsee several times in 2023 and always satisfied. When we wanted to book for 2024 today, we had to find out that dogs are no longer welcome in the nicest spots. We now have a two-class society here as well. Too bad, for us the level has dropped from very good to absolutely bad!

This campsite is personally the ideal example of a perfect (quiet - without animations, etc.) campsite. The location is very remote in the valley by the Black Regen river. There is a large meadow with some trees. Many campsites are located directly by the river (in the high season, however, these are only available by prior reservation), and the remaining campsites are very large and have water and electricity connections. On the entire site, there are two very modern sanitary facilities (a small one and a large one in the main building). The amenities are almost luxurious, as the showers and toilets are very spacious and modernly designed. In the main building, there is also a small kiosk with an attached snack bar, and for when the snack bar is closed, there is a vending machine available. A very positive highlight is the offer of the fire pit. Every guest can borrow a fire pit including wood. There is only public transportation access through a call bus.

We were there for a week in August with our caravan and felt welcome and comfortable from the very first moment. Our pitch had electricity and drinking water supply and was located on a natural meadow right by the riverbank. The sanitary facilities were new and always impeccably clean. There was a shop where you could buy cakes, snacks, and various other items. You could go straight from the campsite into the water, and the river is excellent for stand-up paddleboarding or canoeing. Overall, a great campsite with a feel-good character, suitable for those seeking relaxation, so we will definitely come back.

The campsite has been redesigned and is very appealing with grass. Only thin hoses fit into the gray water disposal at the pitches. The plots that are not by the lake are large, the sanitary buildings are new, but the "second" is undersized. Water sports enthusiasts get their money's worth with kayaking and SUP, even though the entry into the river - unless you want to walk to the canoe launch point - is not so easy. Waste separation is excellently organized, provided that the campers participate and take the sometimes long path to the entrance. The nearest supermarket is about 5 km away, so it's advisable to stock up on groceries if you are not very mobile. There is a shop on site, but the prices are "getting used to". Special praise goes to the very friendly and always helpful staff.
