We spent 10 days there with 3 children and 2 dogs. The dogs had the opportunity to go to the dog beach by the sea and into the sea. They were allowed to ride on the regularly running little train. In addition, there was a dog run, which was not very well maintained but okay. At the beginning, there were dog waste bags and there were plenty of opportunities to take a walk on the campsite, we liked to go to the parking lots where there were no children or other pedestrians around. There were also enough trash cans for disposing of the bags. For dogs, it was perfectly fine and cost 6 euros per dog. There were performances every evening, however completely in Italian. Ordering at the bar was only possible to a limited extent without some Italian phrases. It was difficult for the kids. The supermarket was well stocked, a bit more expensive but still okay. 5 bread rolls cost about 4.50 euros. The sanitary facilities were always clean, despite the very good occupancy of the Soana campsite. We booked this area specifically because the sanitary facilities had just been freshly renovated. No toilet paper and soap were provided. Our plot was nice and large and in the shade under the pines. We were allowed to choose our plot upon arrival as there were still enough available. We were allowed to set up our dog fence. Of course, there were here and there spots of resin on the awning and caravan... The pool was boring for the children and had to be paid for separately, and swimming caps were required. But the sea is much nicer anyway. The public beach was always pleasantly empty, and the sea was clear and warm. Wonderful. You could also rent sunbeds. Overall, a nice, affordable campsite in Tuscany. If you know a bit of Italian and choose the right area, it's perfect.

Facilities in the Statonia area. Sanitary area here is quite outdated. Showers only run for 2 minutes and hot water is only available at specific times. Entrance to the swimming pool must be paid additionally. ADAC card was not accepted, therefore no discount as indicated in the APP.

First of all: we are traveling as a family with small children (4 and 6) in a camper van. We booked the campsite spontaneously without any problems. However, we stayed shorter than planned. Positive: - spacious - large pitches - good supermarket (not quite cheap) - good recreational offers (but during the off-season/beginning of June, everything was still not open) - affordable prices for pitches - various dining options Negative: - poor, outdated sanitary facilities - no hot water for washing dishes - showers with hot water only at certain times (3 times a day) and also rationed (2 minutes on, then 1 minute off, then again 2 minutes) - no toilet paper and no soap!! - only 2 standard toilets per gender. The rest are the original version (with a hole in the ground). - the beach is very far away (almost a kilometer). With a bike and the little train it's okay. - no toilets at the beach (only in the adjacent beach bar) - pool area at the campsite must be paid for separately (adults 6,- euros, children 3.50 euros) - swimming cap required - sunbeds on the beach are also subject to a fee (in the off-season already a whopping 19,- euros for 1-3 rows). In high season, they are correspondingly more expensive! - annoying little flies or mosquitoes at the site that bite and are really annoying. Conclusion: all in all, we were not convinced by the campsite. It was okay but definitely not worth 4 stars. There are much nicer places in Italy that deserve 4 stars!!!

A very beautiful large park, everything accessible by bike, to the beach, for shopping! Perfect for tents. You can choose your own place. Good sanitary facilities. Nice big beach! It gets relatively loud until around 12 o'clock! From mid-August it gets very crowded! Unfortunately, the children's program is only in Italian and starts pretty late!

Felt good all around, very relaxing. The sea is super clean. The path to the sea is optimally reachable by train from the campsite. Campsite is great. Very spacious but you want to move a bit during the vacation anyway. The kids liked it a lot. They want to go back there.

Hello, the site is rated 4 stars and this has already been noted in my guide from 2010. I could hardly believe it, the same rating in 2018. It is completely unclear to me, even in 2010 the rating of the sanitary facilities contradicts the self-imposed definitions stated in the guide. Admittedly, the site is one of the most beautiful I have ever visited worldwide, it has no equal in Europe. However, this cannot be a reason to justify the rating, even if vacationers from other countries do not see it so strictly. The ADAC is responsible for German vacationers and must therefore base its standards on what is expected here. Of the 12 sanitary houses, only 2 have been remodeled and it will take years before the others follow. Until then, a 3-star rating would be fair, as a significantly greater weight is placed on this part of the evaluation in this country than, for example, among the 80% Italian visitors of the site. After the overall renovation, however, the facility has the potential to be a 5-star place, which should find no equal worldwide, as mentioned, the facility is breathtakingly beautiful and the equipment is exemplary. I would be happy to send pictures of the criticized facilities if desired. Best regards, a long-term member (since 1976) Claus Warth

After twelve years and numerous visits to the once beautiful site, we are very disappointed this year. The overall impression of the site is unkempt. For example, the paths to the washrooms are overgrown with tall grass, the ants have partially undermined the paths, and everything gives a neglected impression. The washrooms are in the same condition. Although two new washrooms have been built, the remaining ones still have a rustic character and are no longer up to date. The camping spots are still beautiful, but here too, nature is left to run wild. The grass is high, and the bushes are untrimmed. For a campsite with this claim, unfortunately too little. All in all, we had the impression that more attention is being focused on mobile homes and permanent campers, and that camping holidaymakers are seen as rather bothersome, but are simply there. What has also marred the holiday experience is an insect plague at the site, which has now caught us for the second time and led us to end our vacation prematurely. Something should be done about this. We regret that the service of the site has declined so significantly, as it is indeed a beautiful part of Tuscany.
