Peace directly on the Rhine

We had reserved a pitch for 2 nights. The reception at the front desk was friendly and professional. There is a daily bread roll service without pre-ordering. Right next to the pitch is a restaurant with good, selected dishes. About 200 m away is a Thai restaurant. The request for a late departure on Sunday was promptly fulfilled. For the way to the approximately 7 km distant center of Cologne, besides the suggested public transportation (bus and S-Bahn; buses only run until about 7 p.m.!), e-scooters, bicycles or taxis (about 30 EUR/trip via app) are available. We did not notice any so-called disturbing aircraft noise. For us, a recommendation.

We stayed here for two nights and had a spot overlooking the Rhine. It was simply great. By bike, you ride along the Rhine for 7 km to the Cathedral.

We stayed for the second time for one night while passing through this campsite. We were warmly welcomed and had a great spot. Our kids love this campsite. Everything you need is available. The location is top-notch! The sanitary facilities are like new and were mostly clean. We would always stop here again.

July 2024

Three years ago, I had to leave spontaneously in the summer due to space clearing during flooding. I came back, and once again, my 'special' requests were kindly accommodated - no matter who was working at the reception. The tone was always friendly and appropriate. I really enjoy the mix of permanent campers and holiday campers on the site with tall trees. The only downside is that the access aid at the gate to the Rhine is very difficult to use with a walker or tricycle. But there was always someone to help me! I would gladly come back!

Good location, beautiful view, poor sanitary facilities

Ideally located right on the Rhine. Many nice spots with views of the water. You can easily cycle along the riverside path into the city center. The sanitary facilities are desperately in need of renovation. Some washing facilities were cordoned off with tape, and the showers are on the standard of a sports hall from the 70s. The restrooms were also not clean, as there was always paper on the floor. Very unfortunate, but unacceptable for us, especially since the campsite is not cheap.

City close to the Rhine

May 2023

For a long weekend with city sightseeing, a very good campsite. Beer garden, restaurant, roll service. Sanitary facilities of good quality, but slightly insufficient when fully booked. The distance from the remote pitches is also too far. Power supply without recognizable order. The water supply to the pitches should be expanded.

Great Team Atmosphere!

November 2023

We were on-site for two nights and didn't use the place much, but it was absolutely sufficient for our needs. I think the location right by the Rhine is great, and if you like vacationing in a big city, it’s definitely awesome! I can't imagine spending our summer vacation here, as I prefer more options with small children, though I don’t know what it’s like during the holidays. The beer garden and goose shop had a tasting that was really great, and the smell of goose was still present the next morning on site😉 The restaurant was unfortunately fully booked for meals, but the service for our evening drinks was outstanding! Super friendly and obviously a great team environment! Our daughter keeps saying that she was treated like a princess ❤️ The sanitary facilities weren’t really my thing, but they were okay for the two nights!

More infos about Camping Berger

Surrounded by forests, Camping Berger is situated in an idyllic location directly on the Rhine and yet only a short distance from the city centre of Cologne. This means that the campsite offers both families and couples a varied nature holiday with an urban flair.

Traditional 4-star campsite with plenty of nature and proximity to the city

The campsite, one of the first in Germany, is located just over 8 km from Cologne city centre. At the same time, it offers a high degree of tranquillity, nature and picturesque views of the Rhine. The approximately 6-hectare site has a total of 125 pitches, 34 of which are parcelled out. With an area of 100m² each, they offer plenty of privacy. Dogs are also allowed. In addition to electricity connections, gas sales and waste disposal facilities, the amenities also include a boat slipway and a laundry room. Guests can make use of the WLAN connection. Modern sanitary facilities as well as cooking and washing-up facilities provide an even higher level of comfort. Culinary delights are catered for in the on-site restaurant with beer garden as well as a small shop with all the necessities. There is also a children's playground and the option of hiring ferry bikes. The ideal combination of the proximity to Cologne city centre coupled with the riverside location surrounded by deciduous trees makes for a varied stay. The banks of the Rhine are a protected landscape and are ideal for long walks or cycle tours. Phantasialand Brühl, around 15 kilometres away, is also an ideal excursion destination for the whole family. Of course, a day trip to the centre of Cologne is also an option.
