Camping Athena

Good location at a very beautiful wide beach. Good supermarket. Toilets and showers are clean but very basic: no soap, no toilet paper, no toilet seat.

The great location on the wide, clean sandy beach cannot disguise the fact that hardly anything has changed at the campsite in 28 years, let alone for the better. The sanitary facilities have not been renovated since at least 1993. We had already been on site for a few days once before. The campsite manager has since changed. Unlike the new one, the old one, a very friendly Italian, spoke German and was very attentive to the campers. It is worth mentioning positively that progress has been made in the excavations and the restoration work on temples and walls. The design of the newly renovated museum, with the many found exhibits, must be considered particularly successful.

We have been coming back to this campsite for over 13 years now. Twice we wanted to explore other places in Italy and bitterly regretted it.... Our children are only satisfied when we land here. In the meantime, it feels like a second home. All the staff are so helpful, nice, and kind that it is hard to put it into words. The area, the people there are wonderful, we still discover new things and all the beauty is breathtaking. Be it the Amalfi Coast, Naples, the mountains, Cilento, the food, the wine, the sea....

A huge area with great spaces directly at the sea and under trees. Very friendly staff and really delicious and inexpensive food with huge portions. The beach is clean and inviting. Unfortunately, the restroom facilities were not very good and also the reason why we left again the next day....very unfortunate, build new restroom facilities and you will have customers lining up.

According to the ADAC Camping Guide, there is no entertainment at this site. Unfortunately, this is not true. Although we inquired, there were kids' discos and karaoke until midnight/1 AM in the evenings. Even at the reception, we were told that there should be no entertainment. VERY LOUD. Later we found out that there is definitely entertainment in July and August!!!! Otherwise, we enjoyed ourselves.
