Camping Alphubel

This simple, uncomplicated alpine camping is an ideal starting point for trips from Grächen to Zermatt. Since August, there has been an additional sanitary container. For the requested price, an unallocated parking space on a field - the more people, the tighter it gets - and a plastic toilet and a shower in a construction container, that's unacceptable, it's pure extortion, but unfortunately likely the result of a monopoly situation for Zermatt, which you can't avoid as a camper. Where such a monopoly leads can be seen here as an example: extortion and rudeness. At least the musical in Zermatt was a great experience, but the frustration about the camping was enormous!

Beautiful spacious and almost level lawn area. Simple, but small sanitary building. Electricity included at a flat rate via CEE plug, so no Swiss system. Wi-Fi costs 2€ per device. iPhone and iPad cannot be used together. The train runs directly past the river, even at night every hour. However, it did not bother us.

Indeed, everything is very simple. Little sanitation for a relatively large number of guests. A meadow with sanitation is quite an accurate description. Swiss typical pricing, which is quickly forgotten in the beautiful landscape. Anyone who rides their bike up to Zermatt will quickly forget about that ;-) The audience is very mixed, ranging from outdoor freaks to Jack Wolfskin half-shoe hikers. Overall: a functional place in a beautiful landscape. We will come back!

Perfect starting point for a visit to Zermatt. The shuttle departs less than 200 meters from the site. The fact that the railway line runs right past the campsite is something you accept - during the day you're on the mountain anyway, and in the evenings, there is hardly any traffic, or the loudly rushing mountain stream detracts from it further. The comfort is rather spartan, similar to mountain huts. All in all, it’s more of a meadow with toilets and a bread roll service. But that’s all the campers who come here really want. The clientele is very mixed and more outdoor-oriented - less the beer-bellied type of camper showing off. We will definitely come back.
