The Arena Runke campsite welcomes its holiday guests to sunny Croatia in a dreamlike natural setting. Here, in the coastal town of Pula at the tip of the Croatian peninsula of Istria, camping guests enjoy a wonderful time. Forget the stress of everyday life - pure relaxation is the order of the day! The pitches are located on a natural site by a bay. The ground is sandy and interspersed with gravel, and the pitches are surrounded by pine and conifer trees. There is also access to the water, although this is very stony and uneven.
Quiet, natural site in the untouched charming beauty of Cape Kamenjak. Popular among boaters.
Located on hiking trail network. Self-check-in.

After our positive experiences last year, we found ourselves back at the Runke campsite, this time for a week. What we like about the site: -Great location for kayaking -Close to Cape Kamenjak (this time we paddled all the way to the cape, it was dreamy!) -Great tree coverage, which provides almost everywhere the opportunity to stay in the shade. -Very good restaurants in the area -The campsite is not very crowded in September, and with a bit of luck, you can get a spot in the front with a wonderful view of the sea. It should be noted that camping vans or at most box vans will feel more comfortable here, as the spots are small and sometimes difficult to navigate. The sanitary facilities are quite old and very rudimentary. Those who prefer luxury are out of place here.

We were at this campsite in the spring and late summer. We like that the site is not too big and you can reach restaurants on foot. Every few meters, there is the possibility to fetch water or wash your dishes at the stations. Currently, many spots are available and we are standing far apart. We found that great at first, but unfortunately, thieves can also go about their work unnoticed. Our E-bike and our table grill were stolen. So keep an eye on your valuables.

Our site was okay, but every day new campers are sent around the site and have to find their own spots, and the ladies at the reception are not really informed about which spots are occupied or free. Every day discussions with the new campers about whether a spot is free or not. Regular camping spots are scarce, even though it would be possible to create such with little effort. The toilets and showers are from an older construction, with two showers for women and three for men.

We were at Camp Arena Runke in mid-September. The pitches are a bit hidden, as the arrangement is not in rows and the area is very natural. Personally, I like that. Correspondingly, the audience at the campsite is also somewhat more relaxed. At least in the off-season, there were few luxury campers here, but more camper vans and tent campers. The view from the front pitches is magnificent. It was also very quiet there - we did not hear any party music or anything like that from the opposite Medulin. The sanitary facilities are really very basic, as one would know them from 20 years ago. In the village, there are a few nice restaurants and also good shopping options. The Kamenjak Nature Park is also worth a trip. For campers who enjoy original camping, we can recommend the site. Those looking for luxury are in the wrong place here.

We had booked a pitch by the water. Upon arrival, we were informed that we had booked a seasonal pitch but not a fixed one, we should choose one ourselves. After a 30-minute walkaround, we found no spot for our not small trailer. After a lot of back and forth, we were assigned a spot that was difficult to access, so good job! The next morning, I wanted to get rolls from the campsite's own kiosk. Closed! Alright. After 1 week, it opened. On the 3rd day, we put our boat in the water. 1 hour later, the harbor master came and informed us that we needed a buoy. I said I would like one for 3 weeks. No, no more buoys can be allocated. And now?? Now you take your boat out of the water again. I complained to the director of the campsite because motorboating is offered. He said he had nothing to do with the buoy allocation. So we should take the boat out of the water after every trip. But with the primitive ramp, that’s not an option. The arrogant director also offered that we could switch to another campsite. Once and never again!!!! One positive thing. Like almost all areas in Croatia, it is a beautiful little piece of earth.

Simple place with direct access to the crystal clear water. Some pitches are difficult to locate and/or not suitable for every vehicle due to the hillside location - a camper should have wedges on board. Dog and child-friendly site in a dream area near the Kap Kamenjak nature reserve. The missing star is due to the volume of the party mile in Medulin, especially on weekends, and the local seasonal campers. Earplugs would have personally helped me ;-)
