Good place with clean sanitary facilities

October 2025

The site is conveniently located at a good distance from the Plitvice Lakes, which are certainly the main reason for a stay. The area is extremely spacious, most of the plots are not subdivided and it is often not easy to find a flat spot. The sanitary facilities were exemplary clean during our stay in October 2025, however, the paths to them are often long due to the size of the site. The staff was very friendly, and the price of about 40 € seems reasonable to us. The criticism from a previous reviewer regarding a price of 75 € in the high season for a camper, 2 adults and 4 children is incomprehensible to me. We would certainly recommend the site for a visit to the Plitvice Lakes, whether it should be a longer stay is ultimately up to everyone to decide for themselves.

Unfortunately not suitable for wheelchair users.

The campsite has a beautiful location, close to the Plitvice Lakes. However, it is not suitable for wheelchair users. There are wheelchair-accessible toilets for women with a shower, but they are only reachable via stairs. It's a pity, as it is stated that the campsite is wheelchair accessible.

Good campsite with plenty of space

August 2024

Great campsite, perhaps a bit spread out, which can also be quite nice. Just for the sanitary facilities or toilets, it can be, depending on where you have parked, a longer walk. The site was surprisingly empty despite the high season at the Plitvice Lakes. The staff was very helpful: the site technician reattached my damaged side mirror using two screws. And the lady at reception recommended a beautiful river bathing spot in Rastoke (about 25 km away). The restaurant is quite good and had fair prices.

Overpriced Boring Campsite

August 2024

We stayed at this campsite for one night with a motorhome in the second half of August 2024. A reservation would not have been necessary. The biggest advantage of the site is its proximity to the Plitvice Lakes; otherwise, it is just an overpriced (one night with motorhome, two adults and four children for 75€), boring large site that does not offer any further facilities such as a playground or swimming conditions. Moreover, there are constantly cars or motorhomes traveling on the small roads, even late in the evening. The terrain is mostly not divided into pitches, so you can choose a spot for yourself, but this is not so easy with a larger motorhome or caravan, as the terrain is very hilly. The sanitary facilities are large and clean. For one night, the site is perfectly okay to visit the Plitvice Lakes, but we would not have stayed longer.

Very beautiful and large campsite. Partially uneven, but you can always find a flat area. Lots of greenery with some large trees. Sanitary facilities were clean, good, warm showers without time limits. Shuttle bus to the national park for 4 euros round trip per person is very cheap. The night cost about 31 euros for a 6m bus and 2 people. Electricity included. Overall highly recommended, would come back anytime.

Nice campsite for passing through and visiting the national park

Pleasant6

Andreas & Gurdrun

June 2023

- Campsite open 24/7. - Clean restrooms. - Showers are outdated. - Spacious area with free choice of pitch. - About 9 km from the entrance of the national park. The bike ride is not recommended as it is too dangerous, because there is no bike path and it is mostly uphill. - Unfortunately, there are too few fresh water columns. - There is a disposal for chemical toilets, which is located at an electric column. The disposal for grey water is located among tall trees, where the inlet grate was missing. One had to be careful not to ride into it with the bike. The signage for both disposals is a bit unclear, as toilets were also disposed of in the grey water area. Due to these two disposals, there are unfortunately also odors that can be noticed depending on the pitch. - Very friendly staff. - Clean, tidy, and well-stocked market on site. - We did not use the restaurant. - Price per night for a motorhome with 2 people is €40. - Overall okay. We would come back.

I spent 4 days here and found the place very good. Everyone can choose a spot according to their needs. The sanitary facilities are always clean and not far from almost anywhere. Although the ADAC discount was not granted here, I found €25 for one person and camper more than reasonable.

More infos about Campsite Korana

The Korana campsite is just a quarter of an hour's drive from the Plitvice Lakes National Park, which was one of the first natural monuments to be awarded UNESCO World Heritage status in 1979. The park is one of the most popular excursion destinations for camping guests. The water-rich region also offers many attractive leisure activities outside the national park, so that families, nature lovers and their four-legged companions can look forward to a fulfilling holiday.

Green camping landscape at the Korana Gorge

On entering the Korana campsite, the first thing that strikes you is the vastness of the area: 35 hectares of gently rolling meadows, interspersed with bushes and tall trees, invite you to enjoy a relaxing holiday. In addition to 525 pitches with electricity, 47 bungalows, each with two single beds, a table and wardrobe, also offer overnight accommodation for non-campers. All guests have access to modern sanitary facilities with a washroom as well as wash and shower cubicles - also barrier-free. Washing machines, dishwashing sinks and a supply and disposal station for motorhomes are also part of the site's facilities. WLAN is available in the reception and restaurant areas as well as in the internet corner. A short walk with panoramic views over the lush green hilly landscape leads to the campsite's catering facilities. Close to the reception, the restaurant, a coffee bar, a camping shop and a barbecue area for self-catering guests guarantee a good meal and a sociable get-together. In the morning, a varied breakfast buffet is served in the bright dining room. A bus transfer to the Plitvice Lakes is part of the campsite's service, which is fully geared towards visitors to the national park. While the Veliki Slap - at 87 metres the highest waterfall in Plitvice Lakes - and other waterfalls greet you at the lower entrance to the national park, the visit begins at the upper entrance with a short shuttle boat trip across one of the crystal-clear lakes.

The ideal region for discovering nature

Around the village of Čatrnja and the Korana campsite, the region is characterised by small villages and lush green river and hilly landscapes, which are ideal for skiing and tobogganing in winter. A 2 km hiking trail leads directly from the campsite through the Korana Gorge to Drežnik with its 11th century fortress. From here, it is another 10 km to the legendary Barać dripstone caves. The Korana River itself captivates visitors with the beauty of its numerous waterfalls and many bathing opportunities - the river water is up to 28 degrees Celsius in places in summer. There are also wonderful fly fishing spots in the region. 25 kilometres north of Čatrnja, where the Korana joins the Slunjčica River, lies Rastoke, a historic mill village full of gurgling streams, bubbling cascades and rushing waterfalls.
